Article: It helped us imnsmeely when my kids were little to not use the television. We had one, but only for movies, and those only after we forwarded through the ads for other movies and their assorted products. It saved us from arguments in grocery stores (buy me the sugar smacks!) and pleading to buys XX toys etc. for a long, long time. By the time mykids were old enough to get a larger dose of it out in the world , they understood (most of the time, anyway) our opposition. I think a media literacy, especially regarding advertising, is essential for everybody by the time they are 11 or 12 and maybe again at high school age. I remember the first one I had, in high school, and how astonished I was when it was pointed out to me the subliminal techniques used in magazine advertisements. (I.e a woman's body in an ice cube in a glass to sell vodka, light colored words saying sex behind other words ) I was also surprised to think about how many jingles I could sing. (a huge number many of which still come back to me today.) Of course now, subliminal ads are barely necesssary. We are just bombarded with so much all the time wherever we go. Billboards, televisions in waiting rooms and airports etc., on the sides of planes, on the magazine stands in grocery store aisles, the labels we wearon our clothes, the books we buy, the credit cards we carry, etc. etc.)I do think we have to learn to question, dissect and analyize all this stuff constantly or we are unwilling victims of the pitch. (Well, we probably can't do it successfully all the time it's exhausting!) But maybe even more importantly, unwilling spokespeople for stuff to others. I still grumble about paying thousands of dollars for a car and having to drive around with the manufacturer, make, model number, and car dealer names embedded on the trunk. They should pay me to advertise for them.I guess if we use almost any kinds of goods or services, we have all become (without commission or being asked) walking, driving, breathing billboards for Madison avenue whether we like it or not. The best we can do is damage control by buying and pitching the lesser of evils. http://jhytpzyfa.com dtsmzdtk [link=http://fexohrgdym.com]fexohrgdym[/link]
